Party Party

Party Party, 2020, published by Fitzers Catering.

Fitzers Catering has always wanted to produce an event management and food book but being at the coalface of the Irish catering world meant that there was never the time.

Now, after 30 years of serving food to the great and good of the movie, entertainment and political world, Fitzers has distilled its catering knowhow into a new book aimed at anyone who’s ever wanted to throw a party, but doesn’t know where to start.

“Despite being in business for over 30 years, we’ve never had the time to do a book. But the coronavirus pandemic put a halt to all public engagements and we thought, why not put our downtime to good use?” said Sharon Fitzpatrick.

Party Party is the title of the resulting book, and it includes complete guidance for the reader on how to throw a themed event in their own home, covering everything from table layouts to visual themes, to workable menus and recipes devised by Lenny Fearon, executive chef at the Convention Centre in Dublin.

Themes in the book include Fiesta Mexicana, High Sea Afternoon Tea, Viva Las Tapas and Arabian nights. Each chapter takes a theme and provides a complete breakdown on how to dress a room, source props and serving ware, cook sumptuous food and mix great drinks to get the party started.

“The time is right for this book now, as people are doing more cooking themselves and are choosing to do more of their entertaining at home and in smaller groups. But while they might be going out less, they still want to eat good food, enjoy each other’s company and have fun. Party Party aims to take the hard work out of planning a wide range of get-togethers,” said Fitzpatrick.

“This is about how to conjure up affordable glamour at home, and have fun in the process, and it’s built on our thirty-year legacy as Ireland’s greatest party organisers.”
