I blogged my electric picnic experience too- we “cheated” and stayed in a hotel in Portlaoise, using the two small boys as an excuse not to camp. There’s an incomparable buzz there that you can’t describe unless you’ve been there. Wish the next one was sooner.

I like the nice clean lines of your website Alex and as my culinary excursions into China lure me towards Japan you can take it that I will be following with interest. I’m also one of the lucy ones on the twitter list for the special edition of your book with Kajuiter. Look forward to seeing it.

It’s a bit more expensive, but not massively so. The main difference is that it will have a slightly different presentation and will come with some extra bits and bobs. I don’t want to ruin the surprise by giving too much away about it. The ‘normal’ book is still going to be a gorgeous thing – half art object and half recipe book in my opinion. You could say they both paint the same picture but the special edition has a slightly different frame around it.

Hi, I don’t follow Martijn on Twitter so wasnt aware of a cookbook. What is the difference between the normal and the special edition (apart from the price I assume).

Hi Alex, I grew up in Japan, and I love everything Japanese. It would be nice to see the photos from your November trip too. June/July is hot and humid in Japan… your November trip must have been better weather wise. Hope you had a great time in Japan both times. Fae.
